\n\nDoug Emhoff, the trailblazing Second Gentleman of the United States, is set to make a significant shift in his professional journey. After a noteworthy stint in private practice at Willkie Farr & Gallagher, Emhoff is returning to his roots at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, where he will serve as a distinguished visiting professor. Starting July 1, Emhoff will be enriching young minds with his expertise in entertainment law disputes, a field he is well-versed in from his previous tenure at Georgetown Law.
\n\nEmhoff expressed his enthusiasm about his new role, "It is great to be back home in Los Angeles, and I am excited and honored to return to USC Gould, where my legal journey began. In Washington, I had the privilege of not just serving as Second Gentleman, but also as a professor to law students at Georgetown University. One of the best parts of my time as Second Gentleman was spending time with these students and young people all around the country — so I look forward to continuing to share my experiences with the next generation and hearing from them in the vibrant academic community at USC.”
\n\nHe continued, emphasizing the importance of his mission, “In this difficult moment for the legal community, I believe it is more important than ever to instill in the next generation of lawyers the same principles that drove me to the legal profession: the imperative of speaking out on behalf of the vulnerable, standing up for the rule of law, defending every citizen’s fundamental rights, and always fighting for justice, without fear or favor.”
\n\nDean Franita Tolson of USC Gould praised Emhoff's return, noting, “His extensive legal expertise, coupled with his commitment to public service, will elevate our students’ learning experience and enrich our scholarly environment.” This sentiment captures the high expectations and excitement surrounding Emhoff's appointment, reflecting a mutual enthusiasm for his contributions to the academic community.
\n\nAs Doug Emhoff steps into this pivotal role at USC Gould, he brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to justice and education that are sure to inspire and shape future leaders in the legal field. Best of luck to Doug Emhoff as he embarks on this exciting new chapter of his career.
