Actor Micheal Ward, 27, widely recognized for his role in the hit Netflix series *Top Boy*, faces serious allegations as he has been charged with two counts of rape among other sexual offences. The Crown Prosecession Service (CPS) confirmed that Ward is also accused of two counts of assault by penetration and one count of sexual assault, all involving a single woman. These incidents allegedly occurred in January 2023.
Micheal Ward, who resides in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, is scheduled to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on the 28th of August. Following the charges, Detective Superintendent Scott Ware of the Metropolitan Police stressed the support being extended to the accuser, acknowledging the profound impact such cases can have on the individuals involved.
The CPS, through deputy chief crown prosecutor Catherine Baccas, has urged the public to refrain from speculating on social media or other platforms as the proceedings are ongoing and the accused is entitled to a fair trial.
Ward's career has been marked by notable performances not only in *Top Boy* but also in films such as *Blue Story*, *The Old Guard*, and *Empire of Light*. His acting prowess earned him the BAFTA Rising Star award in 2020, and he received nominations for Best Supporting Actor in subsequent years.
Despite the current allegations, Ward has maintained a busy schedule. He was recently seen at the 78th Cannes Film Festival promoting *Eddington*, his upcoming film alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal, set to release in the UK this August.
Outside his acting career, Ward has been active in charity work, participating in events like Soccer Aid and a Christmas Eve carol service hosted by the Princess of Wales last year.
Key Takeaway: Micheal Ward is facing grave charges related to sexual offences and is due in court next month. The authorities have cautioned against public discussion that could potentially affect the fairness of the upcoming trial.
