Morgan Lewis has made a strategic enhancement to its M&A and private equity capacities by incorporating a trio of seasoned partners from Nutter, McClennen & Fish into its Boston office. The move signals a significant bolstering of the firm's capabilities in these critical areas of business law.
Shannon Zollo, previously the chair of Nutter’s M&A and private equity group, has transitioned to Morgan Lewis along with his long-standing colleagues, Joshua French and Meghan Kelly. Their collective expertise is expected to substantially fortify Morgan Lewis's already robust offerings.
Jami McKeon, the chair of Morgan Lewis, highlighted the importance of this addition against the backdrop of a complex economic landscape. "Businesses and private equity sponsors are currently navigating a challenging yet opportunity-rich deal environment that requires agility and strategic foresight," McKeon stated. She emphasized that the arrival of Zollo, French, and Kelly not only enhances the firm’s domestic prowess but also complements its recent expansions in global markets such as Paris.
The new team members are celebrated for their extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, financings, venture capital, and governance across diverse sectors including life sciences, healthcare, technology, consumer products, and manufacturing. Additionally, they are well-connected within Boston’s investment banking scene, which could prove beneficial in fostering new client relationships and expanding the firm’s market reach.
Christina Melendi, who leads Morgan Lewis’s corporate and business transactions practice, remarked on the team's fitting into the firm’s ethos. "They bring a wealth of experience across various industries and share our collaborative and entrepreneurial approach to client service," Melendi noted.
The expansion aligns with Morgan Lewis's strategy to enhance its corporate and transactional practices globally. The firm is highly ranked by industry leaders like Chambers, The Legal 500, and noted deal trackers such as Refinitiv and Mergermarket for its M&A and private equity platforms.
In addition to this strategic team acquisition, the Boston office of Morgan Lewis has also recently welcomed other notable professionals, including Heather Egan specializing in cybersecurity and privacy, and Tamara Shepard, a former member of the US Department of Justice’s Tax Division.
Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP continues to demonstrate its commitment to adapting and growing in alignment with the evolving needs of its global clientele, from startups to Fortune 100 companies. Founded in 1873, the firm stands on a legacy of over 150 years in legal service, continuously pushing the envelope with innovative, forward-looking solutions.
