In a revealing episode of *The Kardashians*, Kim Kardashian opened up about her tumultuous marriage with Kanye West, claiming she experienced "Stockholm syndrome" and is still grappling with its aftermath, including a resurgence of her psoriasis due to stress.
Kardashian, 45, addressed accusations of kidnapping their four children, stating that despite a hefty $200,000 monthly child support agreement, West's contact with their children North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm has been sporadic. She emphasized her commitment to shielding them from West's unpredictable public antics.
The star detailed the emotional and physical toll of her marriage, linking a flare-up of her psoriasis directly to the ongoing stress caused by West's behavior. “I haven’t had psoriasis since I got divorced, and it just started coming back,” Kardashian disclosed, underlining the severe impact of their publicized familial strife.
Kardashian also tackled the rampant misinformation about her allegedly withholding the children from West. “It's very confusing because it'll be all this talk on the internet of like, ‘I’m keeping the kids.’ He’s never once called and asked to see them,” she explained, clarifying the complexities behind their co-parenting challenges.
Despite their November 2022 divorce settlement that established joint custody, sources suggest Kardashian might seek sole legal custody due to West's escalating erratic behavior and his involvement of their eldest daughter, North, in controversial social media stunts.
Legal expert Jacqueline Newman, a managing partner at a New York divorce law firm, highlighted how such behavior complicates joint custody arrangements. "When one party in a high-net-worth divorce consistently creates a hostile or unpredictable environment, the concept of joint custody becomes intensely complicated,” Newman stated. She emphasized that a court's focus is always on the best interest of the child, which may lead to adjustments in custody agreements.
Kardashian also shared her fears of emotional and financial insecurity towards the end of her marriage, recalling instances when West impulsively gave away luxury cars. The finalized divorce settlement, however, ensures financial stability for their children, covering expenses like private schooling and security.
By recounting her experiences of feeling trapped and the need to "save myself" for the sake of her children, Kardashian reframed her divorce narrative from a mere separation to a story of emotional survival and rigorous parental protection.
