We regret to announce the passing of a distinguished figure in the legal world, Albert Beveridge III, who died recently in Washington, D.C. Aged 90, Beveridge was a revered founding partner of the prominent environmental law firm, Beveridge & Diamond.
Over fifty years ago, Beveridge, alongside childhood friends William Ruckelshaus and Richard Fairbanks, both now deceased, established what would become a leading firm in environmental law and litigation across the United States. The firm later expanded with the addition of Henry Diamond, growing to house over 175 lawyers across seven offices nationally.
Beveridge & Diamond issued a heartfelt statement expressing their loss: "Albert fueled Beveridge & Diamond’s early success, counseling clients on high-stakes corporate transactions and strategic matters, and nurtured a firm culture grounded in intellectual curiosity, collegiality, and public service."
A graduate of Harvard Law School, Beveridge continued to contribute to the firm as Senior Counsel up until his death. He was frequently sought for his vast knowledge on environmental law and the firm’s history, often providing valuable historical insights.
His passing is a significant loss, not only to his family and friends but also to the legal community he helped shape and the public service values he championed. Beveridge's commitment to the law and his firm's culture of intellectual rigor will remain a lasting legacy.
Our thoughts go out to his family, colleagues, and everyone touched by his remarkable life and career. Albert Beveridge III’s contributions to the legal field and his firm will not be forgotten.
