Temple Football Jerseys to Feature Personal Injury Law Firm, a First in NCAA

There is no more perfectly targeted advertising real estate in America than the front of a football jersey. Americans have spent years making fun of soccer stars for their corporate logo-filled kits, but now the NCAA and college football have decided to get in on the action.

Temple Athletics announced a groundbreaking multi-year deal with Grungo Law, a personal injury firm serving South Jersey and Philadelphia, making it the Official Jersey Patch Partner of Temple Football. Starting with the 2026 season and continuing through 2028, the Grungo Law logo will be featured on the Owls' game and practice jerseys. This partnership marks several firsts: it's the first jersey patch partnership in Temple Football history, the first law firm to appear on a Division I collegiate jersey in any sport, and the first corporate patch on a Division I football jersey in the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Delaware tri-state area.

In an era where commercial branding on jerseys is becoming the norm, the NCAA approved commercial uniform patches in January, allowing Division I teams to sell up to two logos of no more than four square inches on their regular-season uniforms, effective August 1. Major universities quickly capitalized on this new rule with Notre Dame, Ohio State, and LSU securing multi-million dollar deals with prominent companies.

Temple, a proud member of the American Conference, opted for a partnership with a personal injury firm, which seems like a perfect fit. Football Saturdays create a highly charged environment with massive crowds, making them ripe for potential accidents. A personal injury law firm's name on a jersey can become a top-of-mind reference in the unfortunate event of an accident.

Arthur Johnson, Temple's Vice President and Director of Athletics, emphasized the local connection in the announcement, stating, "Our partnership with Grungo Law represents another exciting step in the continued growth of Temple Athletics. As a respected organization with deep roots in the Greater Philadelphia region, Grungo Law shares our commitment to community, excellence, and creating meaningful experiences for our student-athletes and fans."

Richard Grungo Jr., the firm's founder and CEO, expressed pride in supporting the local community, emphasizing the alignment with Temple's values and the firm's dedication to serving the regions where their clients and the majority of Temple students reside.

This partnership not only marks a significant shift in the landscape of sports sponsorships but also highlights the increasing presence of legal firms in the world of athletic endorsements. From tech companies to law firms, the jerseys of athletes are becoming a new frontier for various industries seeking to boost their visibility and connect with fans in meaningful ways.
