Can Your Firm Match Up Against Litera’s Trailblazing Tech Titans?

At the recent ILTACON event, a palpable buzz surrounded the Litera company update, where CEO Avaneesh Marwaha, together with clients from prominent law firms Troutman Pepper Locke and FBT Gibbons, demonstrated how they are pioneering the legal technology frontier. This spotlight session followed the Trailblazers Summit, a gathering that celebrates innovative tech applications within the legal sector.

Carrie Remhof of Troutman Pepper Locke and Cindy Bare along with Casey Rauschenberg from FBT Gibbons shared insights into their firms' tech-driven strategies. Their topics ranged from handling complex firm mergers to leveraging AI for enhancing legal operations such as improving Chambers rankings and streamlining RFP responses. Central to these advancements is Lito, Litera’s award-winning Legal AI agent, now an integral part of their operational workflows.

Marwaha challenged the audience with a pivotal question: "How are you going to compete with those two firms you just saw?" He emphasized the inevitability of their success, attributing it to the right cultural and technological alignment. "They're set up the right way. They have the right culture. They're using technology the right way," Marwaha stated, setting a high benchmark for other firms in the industry.

By the Numbers

In his presentation, Marwaha shared intriguing data from a survey of over 100 customers. A startling 95% believe they have placed their bets on AI, a decision largely influenced by client demands, as 85% admitted. However, Marwaha warned against complacency, urging continued innovation and adaptation in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.

He also highlighted a concerning trend: 53% of respondents are primarily reactive, adopting new technologies mainly because their competitors are doing so. This herd mentality, Marwaha argued, lacks strategic depth.

Making an Impact and Expanding Lito's Role

Marwaha outlined Litera’s commitment to not just maintaining but also expanding its capabilities. Over the past five years, the integration of Foundation, CRM, and ERM systems, along with a partnership with Postilize, underscores Litera’s focus on enhancing business development and practice management.

Lito, the AI powerhouse at the heart of Litera’s ecosystem, is set for further expansion. Marwaha revealed upcoming features that will revolutionize transaction management, document drafting, and client relationship management, solidifying Lito’s role as a comprehensive tool for business growth.

The Results, by the Numbers

The effectiveness of Litera’s technologies is evident in the performance metrics of its users: six of the top ten firms in profits per equity partner, and seven of the eight fastest-growing firms in the Am Law 25, use Litera. Moreover, firms utilizing Foundation average significantly higher Chambers rankings than those that do not.

Foundation users, Marwaha concluded, "just continue to dominate the marketplace." For firms not yet leveraging such advanced tools, the challenge remains stark: adapt and innovate or risk obsolescence.
